Text Box: Ron says, “The Four was inspired by the rich classic tones of 1950’s tube amps. I wanted to reproduce the same tone shaping and general touch of a single power tube when being pushed hard. The early Commanders were clean and open, but hard for players to get the “bite” they craved. You can push the Four into compression to sound like a combination of a vintage large diaphragm mic and a single tube amp. If you turn the new OVERDRIVE counter-clockwise, you get a clean, open tone. But if you turn it clockwise you get growl, bite and grit without usual feedback-causing high gain circuits .” You can add some grit even at a low mic level setting. You can add just a little or add lots. Overdrive will push your sound forward thru a noisy band.
